Petroleum Technical Center (PTC)

Employer’s investments in learning are growing rapidly and becoming increasingly strategic. This rapid increase in education investments is occurring 

because learning is a prerequisite for change, and change is a fundamental attribute of the knowledge era. The capacity to learn and respond to advances in technology has become a major factor that distinguishes organizations that prosper from those that do not. With the growth in the oil industry , competent human resources are becoming harder to find. In this environment Sudapet has taken the lead to develop and train the individuals with their different métier to overcome such shortage.

PTC was established by Sudapet in March 2005 with the objective of providing high standard training in the oil and gas industry . Currently the Center accommodates three units :

  • The welding unit.

  • The i- Center.

  • Sudapet / Schlumberger training unit.

The center is planning to add more units in the near future to cover drilling simulation , management and other technical disciplines .

The center is building good relationship with other similar international organizations to facilitate transfer of knowledge and technology.

 

The Welding Unit

  • The welding unit is established with the coordination of vietz and SLV institute of Germany .

  • The unit is established in view of graduating (upgrading skills) and certifying welders to join the growing petroleum and other Sudanese industries.

The unit is well equipped with the state- of- the – artwelding equipments and many other support machines.

 

Laboratory Destructive tests

  • Universal test machine (Tensile test and side, root, and Face bend test)

  • Impact test machine

  • Hardness

Nondestructive tests

  • X ray room mobile system ( Radio- graphic test (RT).

  • Dye Penetrant test (PT) facilities.

  • Ultrasonic Device ( Ultrasonic test (UT).

Syllabus

The training syllabus was prepared by SLV Duisburg ( Germany ) in accordance to prEN ISO 9606-1 standard .

Theoretical Training

The theoretical related studies based on the syllabus of the Deutschen Verbandes fur Schweiben und Verwantdte Verfahren e.V” (DVS) as well as other training requirements.

 

i Center

SUDAPET’s vision for the “ state-of- the- art” 3DVisualization iCenter is that it will improve the understanding of the geotechnical and engineering challenges facing the E& P industry in Sudan. The iCenter will be used for planning , operation activities and managing review meetings in addition to the training and technical workshops, both by Sudapet and Joint Venture partners. Specifically workflows such as Field Development Plan reviews, precision well path planning and real-time geosteering are enabled in the iCenter.

The iCenter consists of a high definition, wide screen, stereo projection system with picture in picture capabilities sourcing images from Windows & Unix computers, running E & P standard workflow applications such as GeoFrame and Petrel. In addition it features the Inside Reality immersive motion tracked virtual reality sub-surface environment. The iCenter is established as a partnership between Sudapet and Schlumberger.

 

Sudapet / Schlumberger Training Center

Together with Schlumberger, Sudapet developed a Training Unit equipped with the state – of- the - art and latest tools for the use of all oil companies in Sudan . The Training Center aims at the transfer of the technology and knowledge to E & P industry in developing technical competencies and improving job functions across the industry in Sudan. In addition, the Center is equipped with the high – end workstation for the purpose of conducting the courses. The Center will also offer Theoretical Courses covering the E & P life cycle , as well as IT , Finance and Soft Skill Courses .
